Just Curious- Homework Time!

You all had some great and sneaky tricks last week for our Just Curious-One Chore. Around here, Headless Dad can't stand a messy kitchen, but I hate to do dishes all day long. Cunundrum? No, I just get up and so the dishes right before I begin to make dinner. He gets a clean kitchen when he gets home and I don't have to be in the sink all day. I also will sometimes run the vacuum and spray a little Febreeze on the furniture so it looks AND smells like there was a lot of cleaning going on. I also end up freaking out a bit when there is junk on the stairs-you wouldn't know it but occasionally I blow when there is too much junk waiting to be delivered to it's home from the staging spot that is our staircase.

So, on to todays question. Confession time, you guys. What about your kids' homework do you HATE? Is it the reading log that has to be filled out just.so.? Is it the math? Is it the amount of homework the teacher gives? Or is it just the attitude with which your child handles (or doesn't handle) the work load? Tell all, Friends!

By far I would have to say all the scribbly cutty worksheets my son comes home with from kindergarten...BLECH.

Also - spelling words that my daughter could do with her eyes closed and in a coma. I swear her teacher doesn't know how to challenge more "gifted" students at all.

It makes me crazy when the "busy" work is sent home. Now I don't mind them doing homework and they actually get something out of it, it's the busy work makes me NUTS!

PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW - - - our kids are grown and we are PAST this stage.

What I hated most was ALL OF IT - - - I DID my homework as a kid and never could understand why as a parent I needed to do more.

And I'm a teacher.

Once again your "Just Curious" question made me giggle.

All of our work is "homework" because we homeschool, but because we are all in charge of what's happening in a given day we don't have to do yucky busy work. HOWEVER, one of my least favorite "homeworks" is attending the "bedroom cleaning ballet" that happens every evening in our home. Make that "bedroom cleaning monster-truck-a-thon" because that's how noisy it can get with my girls' whining about having to clean their room again and it fits for how messy their room can get during the day. Oh well, I guess I could be truckin' them out to a bus stop at 7AM every morning....bleah, we aren't even dressed before 10!

I hate the procrastination. Oh man, I need to pick Headless Daughters brain. I'm worried about how BabyAm is going to hold up next year...

If you don't hear from me for awhile, I'll be curled up in a closet, blubbering.
