Klutz, Part 2

Many of you saw my tweets tonight about being in the ER....Here's what happened.

This afternoon I started cooking dinner (home made chicken soup!) and started washing the dishes. When reaching for a cutting board I somehow knocked a VERY LARGE knife off of the counter. It fell, blade down, onto the top of my foot about an inch below my ankle joint. Aside from the blood I also felt sharp pain and then numbness in my first 2 toes. That scared me.

Luckily the windows were open and the boys were able to come and help-Boy 1 went looking for an adult neighbor, and Boy 2 brought me the phone and prayed for me. (For those of you that don't know him, this is big. He won't even pray before dinner.) Anyway, Boy 1 found our 21 year old neighbor. Headless Dad had called a friend to come get us, so neighbor boy carried me to the car and locked up the house.

Once at the ER, BIL came to get the kids so they could eat and HD came so awesome friend could go home. I had already been in to see the triage nurse and he had taken a look and slapped a small bandaid on it. When HD looked at my foot his look was "WTF?" but he didn't say anything-Lucky for him!

The lidocane shots hurt more than anything (at the time anyway), and I got 3 massive stitches.I also got a tetnus shot from the hunkiest doctor/nurse I've ever seen in person (HD even said it before I did!). I still have some numbness in the top of my foot but they said that it should go away.

So there you have it-Why I won't be going on my walk for a few days. (I hope I can still drive!) Thanks to those who tweeted to make sure I was ok. Nothing a glass of wine and a pain killer won't help! (Oh, I kid. I couldn't carry the laptop and wine upstairs. Hopefully HD will bring it to me soon!)

Not exactly what I wanted to post for my 200th post, but I guess I'll go with it.

YOWCH. I'm so glad you're alright. It could've been much worse *shudder* but this is still painful and scary. So sorry that happened. Hang in there, and enjoy your wine and painkillers-aren't you not supposed to take those 2 together? Haha.

Had I not been on my death bed sick for the last four days, I would have run to your rescue (especially to get a look at hunky doc)...

Maybe if I hadn't partied myself silly on a certain cruise, I wouldn't have caught the first bug to fly my way! Son of a B, Son of a B!

Oh no! Headless wasn't enough? You had to try to go make yourself footless too?!

Sounds painful. Hope you are feeling better -- and back on your feet (literally) again soon!

I love "HD even said it before I did". Hilarious. This is one of my personal phobias (of which there are many). I treat kitchen knives like they are living creatures lying in wait for me. I'm so glad your injury wasn't serious!

Oh you poor thing! I am sorry i've been non-existant for a few days...I will pray for your quick healing!!!

I know what those shots in the foot feel like, been there, done that and screamed so the whole hospital could hear me...so in essence, I feel (some of) your pain!

I wish I could be there to bring you your wine and laptop!

Jeez...I go AFK for a night and you stab yourself in the foot. Little tip: There's no draft.

;)

I like Mary's comment, too.

Glad you're okay, take it easy, etc. etc.

Owzers! The numbness bit must have been really scary! I did that once with a toe and it's still not right. Good for you for getting it checked out and stitched up. I'm apparently not that bright.

Oh, I'm so sorry! Just reading your blog made me get that "inside willy" feeling that runs up your leg to your butt; not a good sort of willy feeling! I couldn't help but think of the "Friends" episode of Monica dropping the knife and cutting off Chandler's pinkie toe! Thankfully you didn't do that! Take it easy and get well soon.

OMG. I am so glad that you are ok. I couldn't read the whole post because I get light headed really easily when it comes to stories invovling blood or the hospital.
