Just Curious-Pet Peeves, Part 3

Your responses on children were great! My pet peeves of other kids are when children rudely interrupt adult conversations (and their parents allow them to do it). They whine, pull on arms, yell... drives me nuts. This is something that I don't let my kids do...if they try, they get corrected.

So, on to this week's question.... Pet Peeves again. When you're out shopping, what's your biggest pet peeve with cashiers/customer service? (Let's limit it to retail stores this time.) Really bring it this week: rant all you want!

Mine has more to do with customers....He / she has an order. During the time that the cashier is checking out the products, the customer is standing there chatting or watching. When the cashier says "It will be "$90 kabillion dollars." the customer looks surprised - THEN begins to get out his / her wallet. What?! Did he / think that it was going to be free? Why wait to get the credit card / check book / cash out?

Cashiers on their cell phones, especially when they act as if *I* am inconveniencing them by :gasp: trying to check out while they are holding a personal phone call.

And of course there is the huffy "I'll have to call you back" accompanied by an eye roll when you walk up.

Sheesh.

I can not stand cashiers who look and act like they have the most terrible job on the planet.

When there is a price check, or a problem with the person in front of me and the cashier just stares at me instead of saying "I'll be with you in just a minute."

When sales people talk to each other about personal things when they are waiting on you. Save it for a break or when no one is around.

Seems like everything I can come up with involves my children...and they are the ones annoying me... But I also have a recurring experience with never being able to find a sales person when I need them OR being hounded by one who either thinks I'm a candidate for a big commission (is it the Target t-shirt and flip flops that gave it awaay?) or that I look like I might be a shoplifter (because the three children hanging on me are so conducive to a fast and easy getaway.

I hate it when there are two open lanes, and one isn't moving at all, so the other cashier closes down. Ughhh.
