I Lost the Memo...

... that informed me that it's the mom's job to do prepare everything vacation related. Including, but not limited to packing, shopping, laundry, and finding a neighbor kid to help with watering the garden. I am going to need this vacation after all of this prep.

What do you have to do to prepare for a vacation around your house? No really. I need to know so I can make sure I'm not forgetting anything! Help a sister out!

I make lots of lists and then i do all the laundry and clean the house and go to the store and pack my stuff and tell the boys to pack and clean the house again and check to make sure the boys actually packed what they need (like underwear and such) and take the dog to my parents' house and check to make sure i have done everything that I put on my lists and load the car and clean the house again...oh and i usually do alot of yelling too....
Hope you enjoy your vacation!

I am supposed to be preparing right now, funny enough. We leave tomorrow.

I have cleaned and folded all the laundry.

Just need to pack and put away clothes.
Load dishes
run to the store and get snacks/food for the trip

I should probably get off...

Sadly we haven't taken a vacation for awhile. The last time we took one (2 years ago, in March) we had to find a sitter for the dog, have someone come to feed and police the cats (they're rowdy) and water indoor plants. Then the endless packing, and since we were flying and I hate to fly there was the constant anxiety. Making sure everything was buttoned down was a pain with kids--they kept turning lights on everywhere. The airport was a nightmare, and then my youngest got the stomach flu on the airplane, then passed it on to me, and then my mother, on consecutive days. See why it's been 2 years? :-)

I lost the memo too...great post and probably true for more moms than we care to imagine...stop paper, stop mail, do you have your tickets, do you need some valium? Love ya, friend. Hang in there....just think of the wine on the deck smelling that great Colorado air! Ann W.

you as the mom have to do EVERYTHING.

the above IS the memo. it is applicable to vacations and other life scenarios as well.

However.

I renegotiate and ignore and blow off that stupid memo any time I can because that's just not fair.

I remember those days when the kids were younger and I had to pack for them. I never enjoyed it!
I don't even like packing for me.
