School's Out. Need a good beach read?

The days of packing lunches, early wake up calls, PTA meetings, and signing homework logs are behind us.  Stretching ahead are long sunny days of SPF, sand between our toes, and if you're lucky, a boat drink or three. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is read. I don't often (make myself) read during the school year. Maybe late-onset ADD or something, but I can't seem to lose myself in a story when I have to drive the carpool in 5 minutes. Is that just me?

Anyway, I had a chance to read a book called The Hive by Gill Hornby this year and it was a HOOT! Never mind that it's set across the pond in England, you'll surely recognize these moms. The Queen Bee, the Single Mom, the Follower, the Disinterested, among others. I certainly saw myself in a few scenes as well. Ahem. Gill's sense of humor has put her other books on my list and I can't wait to dive in. You should too! I actually can't wait to read it again this summer. It's already in my beach bag!

Where to buy The Hive: (Not affiliate links.) It is currently available in hardback and digital editions, with paperback being released in the US on August 26, 2014. It's already available in paperback if you're in the UK. Lucky.

Thank you to Little, Brown, and Company, Meghan Deans and Gill Hornby for the opportunity to review this book. It is long over-due. My sincere apologies. The book itself was the only thing I received in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
