I'm baaack!

Welcome back. Well, to me anyway. I haven't intended to take such long breaks lately. I could say it's life, or kids, or the new puppy, but really? It's honestly just been laziness.

The Nutshell: baseball, VBS, puppy, vacation. That's it. I have a few posts in draft that I may or may not ever get to. Well, except for one. You'll get that one. One of these days.

More honesty? It's the damn games on my phone. And then HD won an iPad mini for me at a golf tournament and I've played a lot with it. (I'm even blogging from it right now. Have you tried to type on a mini keyboard? Holy hell this thing is tiny!) I have stopped plaing Candy Crush (for now anyway,) and am playing Spider Solitaire, Solitaire Blitz, and Candy Mania. It's the Candy Mania that has me hooked. Easier than CC but still challenging. You're welcome.

For vacation we went to Colorado, as usual. And predictably we had a great time. We were able to visit HG and Mr. HG at their NEW HOUSE! Seriously, they bought a house 6 months after they got married. It wasn't exactly in the plan but they were able to find something in their modest price range so they went for it. It's really cute and perfect for a first house. We spent time with them working in the yard and spoiling them a little since we don't live there. Take it from me- it's WEIRD  staying in your oldest child's home for the first time. Good weird, but weird, nonetheless.

Also during our visit we threw my parents a small party for their 50th wedding anniversary. They invited their 'dinner group'-a group of couples that have been having dinner together on ?Friday nights for 5? 10? years. A couple of them are parents of kids that I went to high school with so it's fun to see them, but all of them feel like family now. And they have been family for my parents so I was honored to host them to celebrate my parents special milestone.

One of the fun things that we like to do there is go to a Coloado Rockies game-all 15 of us. (4 of us, parents, aunt, HG & Mr. HG, Brother and family, and another couple) This year we went on July 4th-my mom's birthday! The game sucked but the fireworks were probably the best we've ever seen. (Not counting when we were on a boat in Charleston Harbor, but I think I've told that story before.) It was a beautiful night.

I turned the big 46 while I was there. Facebook is fun on birthdays. While I don't hinge all of my self-worth on how many people write on my wall, it is amazing to open all day and see message after message from friends near and far. It really made me smile. I also get invited to my mom's girls birthday luncheon. She and her friends go out for lunch all year for everyone's birthdays. I think there were 10 of us or so? I'm so lucky that I get included! Someday I'm going to have my own girls birthday lunch group!

Now that I'm home I feel like summer is over. Not the hot weather part, but the fun vacation part. The boy's schedules are booked for the next month until they go back to school. Which, of course, means that mine is too. I do have one more trip planned, to San Jose for BlogHer, but I'll fill you in on that another day.

Thanks for indulging my lack of posting but I'm back. For now anyway!

Glad you're back! I've missed reading here. Loved hearing the vacation re-cap. Summer is close to over for so many, it is really pathetic. Hate that the school district does that.....So happy your family visit went well and that there were some highlights for everyone!
