Your Turn

Four days, huh? Thank you all for your support since I've been doing, oh, ANYTHING but blogging. I suppose if I want readers I need to, you know, actually WRITE SOMETHING?!

Ahem.

Where was I? Oh yeah. I have a few posts that I need to write and get out of my head. Stuff that is really important but they are not ready yet.

I know! I'm sorry! You'll just have to be patient! (Ooh, sorry. Thought I was talking to my kids for a minute...)

So, in the mean time it is Your Turn here at the Adventures. I want you to ask me questions-anything you like. Please feel free to leave them in the comments, or you may email me if you wish. (On the left...down a little...see it? atgmail? Ok.) Something silly? Shoot. Serious? Hit me, I can take it. Unrelated to the blog? Uh, I'll give it the old college try.

That would be this college, btw, because it was the first. See, I'm already answering stuff you didn't even think to ask!

(Full disclosure, I reserve the right to not answer something if I deem it unfit for ye olde blog. But I don't plan on not answering anything at this point. Then again, I haven't seen the questions yet. Hmmm...)

Have at it. Wondered something about an old post? Wondered how I can actually think if I'm headless?

"I sit and wonder why-i-y-y, Oh, why. You left me. Oh, Sandy."

I LOVE this idea! What did you study in Tennessee? What is your favorite way to end the day?

From one mom of a college freshman to another, what sort of unexpected changes have occurred in your household since she left for college and how are you dealing with them?

Yep - I ditto Aud's question I want to know what I'm in for/up for/down for...you know I'm already freaking out and she's going to stay at home for college for at least a year...she says two but I seriously doubt it.

It's college prep time, and I'm about to start drinking...

HG - you can answer too... :)

Shannanb - I can say with some authority that it's good genes. :)

hmmm college transition...

its a big one..
i was SOOOOO excited to get out and have roommates and the college experience blah blah blah..
but..
now i just wanna be home, i miss having a bed time i had to adhere too, i miss good nutritious food, i miss my bed, i miss my brothers, i miss my mom and dad (don't let them know that though)

i am very much a creature of habit..and a homebody..so this whole college thing is totally throwing me off.

i didn't believe people when they would say its the biggest transition you'll ever make..but it totally is..

don't get me wrong, i love it here, but its WAY different than high school..
classes are SOOO much harder (and I even took AP classes), I don't have my best friends here (whom I've gone to school with since kindergarten), and I am not big on the food.

But, I'm making it work, I'm getting used to it, and I know one day I'll look back and realize that it was a time of growth and development for me, but for now, it's just plain hard.

sorry if that wasn't encouraging at all

Nothing good is easy. :) And you've been there, what, a month? Two? As you say, it's going to be an adjustment from the way you've known for the last 12 years that I've known you.

I don't recall missing my friends and family and home as much as you do, but I was also adjusting to a new girlfriend, rushing a fraternity, and, uh, drinking. A lot. 3 things you're not having to deal with.

Which means you'll also likely not have to deal with a 1.78 GPA your first semester. :D

Wow HG - it's a big, tough thing, isn't it? Don't forget that I am literally 5 minutes from you if you want to come eat lunch with me.

go figure

Sam said...

HG: Are you totally knocking yourself out studying? Do you stress for tests?

Unrelated question: How is your reading retention?

headless girl :] said...

uncle sam: not completely..i try to moderate myself, yes...i stress about EVERYTHING, and horrible...it always has been

Sam said...

Well, anything I'd try to offer has probably already been covered in the past, then, so I'll just say "good luck". :)

I will say that I tended to go into tests a little less stressed than most, as I figured it was a test over what I know about the subject, and if I didn't know it, then I deserved to get a bad grade. Studying was kind of the same - I never crammed. I could stay up late writing a paper, but just reading and stuff? Couldn't hang. So, I'd close the book and think about it while I drifted off to sleep. :)

But my reading comprehension & retention has always been excellent, so I'm a bit different than most, I think.
