Schedules

Why do schedules cause me so much panic?

See, HB#2 started football LAST Monday. As in waaaay back in July. They practice each evening from 6-8. So he won't puke, he eats a big lunch around 2, then we're all stuck eating dinner around 8:30, if we're lucky. (Like last night? Yeah. Major fail. I ended up going out for take-out and we didn't eat until 9:30.)

The boys start school next Monday. As in August 10th. They will practice Mon-Thurs next week, then Tues-Fri. the following week. Can you see where this is going?

This totally screws dinner and bed times. And I mean bad.

We are THAT family that has dinner during the week between 6 and 6:30 every.night. All together. All of us. Always have.

Add to that, for next week anyway, I was just informed tonight that our team is in charge of the snack bar. Starting on Monday. Um, yeah. The youngest team, none of us have been in this league before, and it's the first week of the school year.

Can you see my head exploding?

Last year I wrote a post about being prepared for the first week of school.

Uh, did I mention that as one of 4 team moms I volunteered to go to Costco to shop for this whole snack bar shenanigains?

So, yeah, I think I need to be getting prepared like, last week. Anyone have a time machine?

PS-Any dinner ideas that I can make for my kid to eat at 4pm would be great. That will also be good at 6 when normal people eat: i.e. the rest of the family. (Did I mention the heat and the puking?)

PPS-Oh! and for the record, we've cut out bread, pasta, rice, etc., because he needs to make weight.

PPPS-Is it any wonder we're Headless? Really? Or maybe that's just me....

See, it's all about the scheduling.

A cold salad with chicken????

Yeah, boring, I know. But I couldn't come up with anything once you cut out pasta...

Now tell me why our kids are going back to school when it's still a bazillion degrees out? We start on August 18. I am so not ready!

I'm tired just reading about what your schedule will be!

You can always fall back on the "meat n' potatoes" sort of thing; roasts, Kalua(sp) pig, etc..

Good-luck my "soon to be tired friend"!

OMG that is allot to schedule. I can't believe they start school already. Does that mean they get out earlier? Good luck.

I can't find my blog said...

Yes! For the first time ever they will be out before Memorial Day. Yippee!

I can't believe they start so EARLY! We don't start until after labor day... wow - that makes summer just slam to an end huh? And that schedule... oh how I dread a schedule like that.

As for dinner suggestions... tacos without the taco? Turkey meat, lettuce tomato and some cheese melted on top? Tuna salad? Like life isn't hard enough without eliminating carbs? Geesh! Good Luck!

We are that family too. The one that always eats together. I know at some point, this will end when sports and activities get in the way. I will miss it.
I hear ya though, school schedules are just around the corner.

I hate to be the one to say it, but the chaos has just begun. Wait till your kids conveniently remember some assignment they have to submit on the first day of school just when you're tucking them in.
