The only post you'll ever see me write about Twilight
I haven't read the books. I haven't seen the movie. I'm not-so-much a fan of the vampire genre. But I jumped on the chance to check this out because I thought that YOU, my readers, might want to know about this book.
Brian Leaf is an educator that has written many SAT and ACT study guides. I think that this one must surely be the coolest. defining Twilight is a vocabulary workbook for those studying for the SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT tests. Can there be anything better for an Edward-loving teen that really should be studying but won't put down the latest? Here's how it works: On the first page of each chapter it gives you vocabulary words and corresponding page numbers. You then go to that page and read the text and try to guess the meaning. The rest of the chapter gives you the meaning as well as sample synonyms, analogies, and sentence completion questions, then at the end of each group of chapters there are sample quizzes. I'm guessing that my Headless Girl might have actually studied for these tests had this been available when she was taking them. My HB#1 flipped through this and thought it was really cool too-he's great at vocabulary and even at 9 thought that the concept sounded fun. (I might be tempted to keep my sample if he was anywhere old enough to read Twilight, but he's not.)
Here's what all of this means for you: Since I won't be needing a SAT workbook in the near future, I'll be offering this copy to my readers, similar to my other 'click for clutter' posts. Do you have a daughter or niece that you think would like to have this book? Let me know in the comments. If I get any more than 1 comment I'll use random.org to choose who I will pass this on to. My copy only has a few fingerprints on it, so it's practically new.
Thanks, Brian, for sending this to me to review! Brian is also offering some free SAT/ACT help through this link as well where you can sample what he does.
(Disclosures: I was given this book to review. It's value is under $10, new. I am sending it to a reader at my own expense. I was not paid to write my opinion. The above Amazon link is to my Amazon Associates page and if you order this book, or anything else, from that link I will get a few pennies. Which would be cool for me, but you should know that upfront.)
I have closed comments on this post so I can choose a winner. Thanks for entering!
Congratulations to Carmen, Mom to the Screaming Masses for winning this book for her daughter!

Good For The Kids Giveaway
It's Bloggy Giveaway time again! The week that we all drop to new productivity lows while trying to win all sorts of free stuff. Ahem.
Today's offering is a $30 Gift Certificate from Good For The Kids.
Angie seriously sounds like my kind of people with quotes like "I now operate Good for the Kids out of my home that I share with my very understanding family and a décor of Cardboard Box Brown." Sounds like a gal that I can do business with and hang out with. (Maybe she's got some headless issues of her own? Running a business out of her home with kids? Headless for sure.)
Where was this site when my kids were young? There are so many great things to find there that moms of little ones really NEED. Like this for my allergy/asthma kid:
asthma and allergy friendly® Stuffed Animal Toy Beanies Kids Preferred
Or maybe something for mom? I love these diaper holders-such a sassy name!
My Royal Heinie Brown and Pink Chocolate Kiss Daypack Diaper Wallet My Royal Heinie

Wait! Come Back!
I'm out for the next couple of days preparing some things for next week. You are going to LOVE the artists that I have lined up for these giveaways. Make sure you visit next week to see their stuff and maybe WIN!
Also if you haven't gone over to AllMediocre to enter those giveaways-GO NOW!! Today is the last day and you don't want to miss a thing! And while you're there check out some of the great bloggers listed. There is a blog for everyone!
I'm also trying to prepare for our next vacation, next Friday and dinner guests tonight. Last night I took the kids to a birthday party that was supposed to last a couple of hours and we ended up staying 4+. It was fun, and I scored a bottle of the best wine-private label. I don't even want to open it because they don't sell it. What do you do with that situation? Stalk them so they give you more? Beg? Break in their house?
I am tired. When does school start again?

And the winner is...
I stole her graphic because it's so stinkin' cute!! Yes, Beachy Mimi won. Ya'll have to help me keep her to her word on who she would pass this to when she was done. See for yourselves:
"I could read this book, then pass it to Queen B, who could pass it to The Roost."
Then The Roost said that she would pass it to her daughter who just had a baby.
That's a lot of passin', ladies. I hope you all enjoy it!
